Julia is a Graduate Designer with a degree from the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz, Germany. Currently, she lives on the hills of a small idyllic town in the south of Germany, where she and her partner run their own studio for graphic design and film. Julia combines both analogue and digital elements in her works. In her spare time, she likes reading, sewing and hunting for old furniture.

“Before Doedemee, I had neither read Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont nor even heard of it. This might be, because the book hasn’t been translated into German yet. It tells the rather sad story of an old widowed lady who meets a young writer and befriends him. The novel’s characters are very well observed and precisely described with a lot of humour. This leads to a certain lightness that often disguises the basic melancholy.” “When working on my poster, I felt it was important to capture the quiet, melancholic atmosphere and to emphasise the central theme of aging, but to preserve the book’s lightness at the same time.”
