About the artist: Job, Joris & Mariekefrom the Netherlands

Job, Joris & Marieke is a studio for illustration, animation, character design and Music. Their work is populated by inept characters who usually get wrapped up in awkward situations. Job Roggeveen, Joris Oprins and Marieke Blaauw all studied at the Design Academy. Job, Joris & Marieke loves to work on commissioned projects such as commercials and music videos, and they wouldn’t say no to educational assignments. Next to that they sometimes just need to lose themselves in their independent work such as short films and designer toys. In 2011 they made a music video for Gers Pardoel’s song ‘Ik neem je mee’. The video became a Youtube hit and has now been watched eleven million times. In the same year, they made the music video ‘Born with a Bothered Mind’, in which Manfred the Yeti’s holiday turns into a succession of camping discomforts.

“We were looking for a book with an extraordinary feature. It’s always hard to capture a story in an image. In the book someone turns slowly into a dragon. We could work with that.”
