Why this work
“With regards to why I chose to illustrate Miss Jean Brodie, well, to be honest, when I was asked to participate there weren’t that many titles left to choose from. Among the remaining titles this book presented me with a challenge. Miss Jean Brodie is the very embodiment of strict and correct behaviour and ultimately she is not a character that I neither sympathise nor identify with. The discomfort caused by my feelings about the character created the perfect mind-set for me to create the austere, stiff and elegant atmosphere I was looking for.”
