About the artist: Mark Gossfrom Belgium
Mark Goss is an English illustrator and artist now living in Belgium. After graduating with a degree in graphic design he moved from his home in London to Antwerp, as well as the change in location he also went in a slightly different direction regarding his work, deciding to pursue illustration and his own personal artwork. About his work he says: “In my personal work I focus on creating bold, graphic imagery on paper, found objects and walls and I also use this style and the same techniques to create original client based work.”
Why this work
“I chose Gullivers Travels for a number of reasons, firstly the story is a magical and epic one, something I thought would translate extremely well as a poster design. Secondly my personal work is related to my experience and environment and I wanted to create an image that was representative of the story in a way that was as if it were experienced by myself. I wanted to create something using traditional methods rather than digital so I use a coloured inks and a Japanese brush pen for the lines, as well as a little acrylic paint for highlights.”
